Horst Tappe

Bernard Campiche, publisher and president of the Horst Tappe Foundation

Bernard Campiche

A trained librarian, Bernard Campiche created his publishing house in 1986. Since then, he has published over 130 books by Swiss-French authors, distributed in Switzerland and France. Forty of them have been translated into many languages. He exercises his profession in the manner of an artisan, by performing most of the tasks himself. This has enabled him to find a very personal tone and style, in terms of the choice of texts, his relationship with the authors and public and the general presentation of his work. He has received numerous awards: the Canton of Berne's Commission of French Literature Award (1989), the Vaud Foundation for Artistic Promotion and Creation Young Creators / Literature Award (1990), the UBS Jubilee Fund Award (1999), the Vaud Foundation for Artistic Promotion and Creation Literary Award (2000), in addition to the fifty or so literary prizes won by his authors. From the beginning, he commissioned Horst Tappe to take his authors' portraits and forged an artistic and friendly relationship with him.

Christophe Brandt, director of the Swiss Institute for Photographic Conservation

After studying art history at Lausanne and Neuchâtel, Christophe Brandt specialised in the study of photography. After a brilliant academic career that took him to the Metropolitan Museum in New York and the Carnavalet Museum in Paris, he founded at Neuchâtel in 1985 the Swiss Institute for Photographic Conservation, which deals with the preservation and expert evaluation of a great many photographic documents. In 1995, he became a member of the Swiss Association of Photography Institutions and, in 1998, his institute become a founder member of MEMORIAV, the Swiss central association for the conservation of audiovisual heritage. A lecturer at the Institute of Art History and Museology, he was awarded the title Doctor honoris causa by Neuchâtel University in 2004.

Laurent Cochet, freelance photographer and black&white printer

Laurent Cochet

A young Swiss photographer, Laurent Cochet graduated from the Vevey School of Photography with a passion for techniques of the past. In parallel to his work as a photographer, in which he uses and updates various techniques in a quest for the immense potential of photography and with a love for quality, he opened, in 1991, a black and white printing laboratory in Lausanne. He exhibits regularly in Switzerland and around Europe.

Sylviane Friederich, librarian

Sylviane Friederich

Sylviane Friederich is a fervent defender of books. A trained bookseller, she opened La Librairie in Morges against all odds – the competition of big shops, the small size of the town - and proved that it was possible. She is president of the Swiss Association of the 3 Book Professions (ASDEL) and can be seen, read and heard regularly in the media: she is a book commentator for the Radio Suisse Romande and France Inter (on the show La Librairie francophone), as well as in the Swiss daily newspaper Le Temps. Her commitment led her to set up Bon suisse du livre, a cooperative of which she is vice-president.

Philippe Pache, photographer

Philippe Pache

After graduating from the Vevey School of Photography, Philippe Pache immediately worked as a freelance photographer. He exhibits regularly in Switzerland, Paris, Berlin, London, Tokyo and New York. From 1992 to 2000, he was the official photographer of Béjart Ballet Lausanne and the international dance competition Prix de Lausanne. He carries out many assignments for magazines (L'Illustré, l'Hebdo, Femina, etc.) and presents photography workshops in Tuscany and Sicily every year. Since 1986, he has been a member of the Rapho  agency in Paris. He also collaborates regularly with the Parisian agency Opale, which specialises exclusively in writers' portraits.
